Kids Party

In my experience, a kids party is really about camaraderie and fun. I have four
kids and I did not have birthday parties for them after they turned five. They
each got three birthday parties with friends. Each child had one party each for
their third, fourth and fifth birthdays.
I know that it seems extreme not to celebrate with birthday parties for each of
my children, but we do celebrate each birthday with the immediate family. I know
that a kids party is really a lot of fun and so, I threw one party every summer
for all of my kids and all of their friends. It is just not a birthday party.
A kids party is really judged by the number of smiles on the faces of the
children attending and the adults there as well. My kids have always helped plan
the party as a group. One year, the kids party theme was patriotic. They worked
making all of the decorations themselves.

The patriotic kids party really was a lot of fun to put
together. Each of my children found red, white and blue items to put on display.
My son made stars with aluminum foil and cardboard forms to decorate the
backyard with.
My favorite part of the patriotic kids party was the crafts. I was so impressed
with the kids party plan that my children all came up with. I bought five
different patriotic craft kits for the children and their friends to do.
The menu for the patriotic kids party was pretty simple. I set
out trays of cut up vegetables and fruit. I had switches cut from the pecan tree
and the kids roasted hot dogs over an open fire. I served potato chips and
lemonade. For dessert, the kids party had cherry pie. I chose cherry because of
its prominence in early American history.
A couple of years have passed since that patriotic kids party that we had, but I
still have people comment to me about it. I have always thought that it is funny
that the part of the kids party that my children’s friends loved the most was a
last minute idea. The biggest hit of the patriotic kids party was the American
History Trivia Game.
I made up the American History Trivia Game at the last minute. It had some
extremely difficult questions for a kids party. There were two kids that tied in
the game and I had them go head to head to decide the winner. The winner of the
game received a shirt that had been decorated in a patriotic fashion by my kids
earlier in the week.
